Manual Gametimer
Introduction (or download here)
Your child usually goes to bed at 9:00 PM, but is watching a movie that ends at 9:10 PM. How do you handle this situation?
5 tips for using the Gametimer:
- With a little bit of “flexibility,” the Gametimer will be quickly accepted. Your child is responsible for their screen time within the set limits. This takes some getting used to for everyone, but children adapt quickly.
- Talk to your child about the agreements regarding daily screen time. By involving your child in setting these rules, you create support and involvement. Review and discuss the agreements again when there are changes, such as an adjusted school schedule.
- Children know when playtime is over. Afterward, give your child the opportunity to finish the game properly or say goodbye to their online friends.
- The purpose of the Gametimer is to raise awareness. Children learn that pausing and stopping are important parts of gaming and screen usage. If the Gametimer is occasionally not used during your absence, don’t pay too much attention to it. You can check the playtimes of the past 7 days in the statistics.
- Making agreements about gaming and screen time isn’t easy, especially since children often don’t have a fixed routine. By setting clear playtimes, your child can better plan and manage their daily screen time. This helps balance screen time with other activities and responsibilities.
